Joe Smoe and Shirley Temple
My fiancee' and I met at a coffee house in Breckenridge CO. Breckenridge is a great sized town. When it is peak tourist season, you can get lost in the crowd, but only the locals know where the great places are to eat and chill. You will quickly get to know the owners and feel right at home. Lisa's coffee house was famous for her homemade bakery treats. That is what kept me coming back every Saturday.
I got to know Lisa, and she became my mother away from home. I nickname those I love, and she became my Shirley Temple. She had beautiful curly Locks. Her husband, Joeseph, was the principal at the elementary school where I was a teacher's .....

I knew he would blow it!
It had been two years since we first met on the beach. Two years filled with laughter, tears, wet dogs and beaches. I loved him; simply and completely. I knew he loved me and my dog.
Mike had hinted at marriage but It was always the wrong time or he asked the wrong way. Once we were talking about our tax situations and he said, “ Ya know, if we were married we could file jointly”
That was Mike, always thinking with his head not his heart. A woman wants romance, she needs the proposal to be a grand statement not an accounting solution.
I wanted a proposal story I could tell my friends and children and they would be speechless from .....

Love on the High Seas
Ellen and I had been dating for a few years. We met through our parents oddly enough. My father owned a boat that was docked right next to the boat owned by her family. After many Sunday chats, our fathers began to share details about their respective families with one another. It came up that John (Ellen’s Father) had a 23-year-old daughter who had just broken up with her long-time college boyfriend. My father shared that his son, Connor (Me), Had just graduated school and was single. The two schemed to have us meet. The next Sunday I accepted an invite from my Dad to spend a day on the boat. Ellen did the same when her father .....

Christmas Day Engagement
In December of 2008, I spent the winter holidays with my fiancé in Ireland. She was with my family and me in December the previous year, so it was only fair that I make the trip this time. Prior to traveling to Ireland, I bought an engagement ring from a jewelry Web site along with a Christmas card with a fiancé theme. I had other gifts as well, but it was these two that I had intended on proposing to her with.
As it got closer to Christmas Day, I was looking for the right opportunity to present itself to propose. I played various scenarios in my mind about what places would be appropriate and how I should phrase the wording. It all seemed .....

The Loaded Card
I am a greeting card enthusiast. Really! I used to put that on cover letters when applying for jobs. My boyfriend embraced my quirky passion and actually found it endearing. I guess he should have considering I mailed him at least 100 cards while he served in Operation Desert Storm. He thoughtfully began the weekend that changed my life by presenting me with a card that read, “Ready for some adventure?” Little did I know just how meaningful that $1.25 greeting would become…
Bob had planned a whole weekend getaway – a surprise trip away from his MA apartment and the CT home where I was living with my parents. He wouldn’t tell me a.....
